Over the coming lessons, we are going to go through some steps to help improve your on-page  SEO. You do not need a plugin to do this, but if you have the option, it does make it easier to track your progress and get instant feedback on the changes that you make.

The Best SEO Plugins for WordPress

The Quick Version

1 – If you have a WordPress site, install an SEO plugin like Rank Math.

2 – If you don’t have a WordPress site, then create a list of your pages and posts where you can track your optimization of them. You can use this if you would like.

The Complete Version

Here are the five plugins that we like the best. Ultimately, each of these will work well for you. Rank Math is currently our favorite SEO Plugin of the bunch. It is very comprehensive while being easy to use, but again, you won’t go wrong with any option here.

Installing a Plugin in WordPress

You have  probably installed a plugin before, but if not, here is a quick rundown of what to do:

1 – Log in to your WordPress admin account and click on Plugins in the left-hand column.

2 – Click on “Add New” towards the top of the screen.

3 – Search for the plugin you want and then click “Install Now”

4  – Once it installs, then click “Activate”

5 – Once you activate your plugin, you will often be taken to a setup wizard to do an initial configuration. Run through this to get some of the basics covered.

What if I don’t have a WordPress site?

One of the benefits to WordPress is that you have a giant library of plugins that you can use to expand your site, but if you are not using WordPress, that is not a problem. At a minimum, I would recommend keeping a list of your pages and posts and checking off if you have optimized them.

We put together our On-Page Tracker to use as a template if you would like.

Final Thoughts

The plugin isn’t necessary, but it is certainly helpful. In the upcoming lessons, we are going to begin optimizing your current pages.
