How To Promote Your Blog

In this article, we are going to go over how to promote your blog.

How to Promote Your Blog

Once you begin posting content on your website, you will want to promote it so that you can begin to drive traffic to your site and to help increase your brand awareness across the internet.

Promoting your blog will help to create backlinks (albeit not powerful ones, but backlinks none-the-less), social signals, and drive real traffic to your website. All of this helps to establish your online entity.

The Quick Version

1 – Set up a plan and system that will share your blog posts once they have been posted.

2 – Some examples of sites you can share to include Facebook, LinkedIn, Google My Business, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Tumblr.

The Complete Version

The goal is to develop a system that will share your content across numerous networks as you post it. There are three main ways you can accomplish this:

1 – Manually promote your blog

This is most likely where you will and should start. Just like you should write your first 10 or so blogs, I would also suggest you manually share your content across the networks and platforms you want for the first handful.

Doing it yourself will allow you to get a feel for the platform and how it looks and comes off when you share something.

To do this, you will come up with a list of platforms that you want to share to (I included some examples in the Keyword Research Tool on the Content Schedule page). You don’t have to use all of these, and there are more beyond this. For now, select some that you want to utilize and update your own keyword research tool.

2 – Hire someone to promote your blog

If you already have someone on your staff or team, you can task them with this. Otherwise, you could look into hiring a freelancer, agency, or VA to take on this roll.

As mentioned above, you will need to train them, or at least give them the vision, which is why it is good to start off doing some of the posting yourself.

3 – Automate your blog promotion

This is my favorite way. You lose some personal touch this way as everything is automated and you are not writing out a description or comment on the various platforms, but time is money, and setting up an automation to help promote your blog will save you a lot of time.

To automate your blog promotion you are going to want to look into building automations using a tool like IFTTT, Zapier, or Automate. Each of these help to connect apps together and you can use them to automate your content promotion.

I’m not going to dive into a deep guide here on these, but here is a page that can get you started. In general, you will want to utilize your RSS feed and connect it to various other platforms.

(We also have a service to set this up for you if you would like.)

Use scheduling software to promote your blog

This is not full automation, but it does help quick up the process if you are manually posting or if you hired someone to. You can use tools like:

There are many others out there as well, just Google “social media scheduler” and you will find plenty.

You can hope in one of these tools and schedule out a number of posts across numerous platforms. This is a big time saver.

Put a little ad spend behind your posts

If you are able to afford it, I recommend putting a little ad spend behind some of your social media posts (Boosting on Facebook or Instagram as an example). This helps to get more eyes on your brand and will drive some extra traffic to your site. You can start as low as $5-$10 to get your post out in front of more people.

Final Thoughts

Much of this comes down to consistency. Can you consistently make your blog posts? Can you consistently share them on social media once they have been made? There isn’t a large secret to doing this right. It comes down to consistently creating the right type of content and then getting that out in front of the right people. If you do this weekly over the next two years. This is going to work for you.
